Eighth chapter, Sophia

As the door opened, I flipped my head and looked. It is him, Alexander! I don't know why I'm so happy either, it's just that my heart is pumping really fast. I pushed through the crowd ( how many friends did Tiffany invite anyway? ) But as I edged nearer to him, I saw another head bobbing behind him, his brother - Gabriel. I didn't invite Gabriel, but how bad could it be?
'Hi!' I said as I finally reached in front of them, talk about party, this feels more like a concert.
'Oh, hey. I'm not late, am I?' Alexander said as he took a look at his watch while Gabriel started to roam around already.
'No. So, let me introduce you to the birthday girl.' I said as I motioned him to follow me behind. He's so cute.
'Oh, I didn't get a gift.' he sounded worried as I assured him that nobody actually bought presents for her too.
'Who is this? My birthday present, from you? Nice choice, Sophia!' she exclaimed towards me, as she looked at Alexander from head to toes.
'Uh, no. He's new at our school. He's my friend, Alexander.' I said as I gave this wide smile, to Tiffany and also Alexander.
'Oh.' she actually sounded devastated but her eyes brightened up as she took in the look of the other stranger, which was Gabriel.
'So, this one is my present!' she said as she pulled Gabriel next to her as I looked at Gabriel, then at Alexander with my mouth opened.
'Uh, no. That's Alexander's brother, Gabriel.' I said, trying not to sound as awkward as the situation is.
'I don't mind being this lovely lady's birthday present.' Gabriel said out loud, giving Tiffany a wink and pecked her on the cheek. She stared at him, dumbfounded as her cheeks slowly turned red.
Oh no, no, no. Tiffany is falling in love with Gabriel. Wait, why am I freaking out.
'HEEEEEEEEEY!' someone screamed into my left ear and gave me a bear hug. Only one person does that to me, Brandon, my ex-boyfriend. After the accident, I couldn't take his whole jock act anymore. But, he's so funny that I still want to be his friend. So we're in the 'friends' relationship now.
'Brandon, this is Alexander. Alexander, Brandon.' I introduced them to each other as they gave each other a knowing nod. Guys.
So, as the party went on, Alexander was getting to know everyone and I was glad I invited him. He seemed so into everyone, and he just fit in. As I moved my sight towards Tiffany, I still could see Gabriel with her, obviously flirting. I just don't like Gabriel that much.
As I stared into spaces, I felt a tug on my arm. 'Hey, let's talk outside.' Alexander said as I obediently followed behind him.
He sat down outside the restaurant and patted to the space next to me, indicating me to sit down. As I sat down slowly, he said something in a rush. All I could hear was 'Du eu beee-ef in loof aaaet fusht seeeigh.' in a really fast speed.
'What, pardon?' I couldn't make out what he said. Foreign language much?
'Do you believe in love at first sight?' he said it slowly and clearly, which made me process what he said for 30 seconds.
'What?' I shouted, a little louder than I intended as I see him flinch a little. The person who he fell for might not be me. But, as I thought about that, my heart seemed to hurt. Weird.
'What would you do if I feel in love with you at first sight. I'm just asking.' he asked cautiously, making sure that I don't feel awkward.
'Uh, I don't think I'm ready for a relationship. I just broke up with Brandon and all.' I said as I started to flush and my heart was beating really fast.
'Oh. I see, then no worries.' he said, disappointed, but he tried to joke it off.
But as those words left my mouth, I felt guilty and as if someone gave me a slap on my face while calling me stupid. He climbed up the stairs and left me sitting there, I think it's for me to think about it.
The more I think about it, the more I regretted what I said.
'I do believe in love at first sight.' I whispered to myself as I whimpered in the dark.
I think I fell in love with Alexander at first sight, he's just so intriguing.
As I silently regretted what I did, I didn't notice a silhouette leaning against the pole on the porch, apparently he's been there since Alexander pulled me out of the party.
